Alternative methods:

These methods can be looked at if you face the following problems:

  • you are unable to get STRONG myID - missing a 3rd ID such as not having a passport
  • you have your MyID set up properly but for some reason, you cannot see your entity listed.


The alternative methods will require:

  • client details:
    • x2 types of client IDs (medicare, licence, passport)
    • TFN
  • Non-individual details
    • TFN or ABN
    • ATO document ID


The alternative methods consist of: 

  • Tax agent portal message - takes 10 days + scans of 2 IDs + more
  • Phone call
    • via tax agent info line - client has to be present and ATO agent will ask for 2 IDs for verification

Client calls 13 28 66 to Inform ATO to add us as AGENT

Note during the call the ATO staff will try get the client to finalise their MyID application. Just inform ATO agent any reason why the MyID doesn't work


In doing so, you need to: 

  1. Client establishes their identity with ATO, disclosing 
    1. TFN, 
    2. DOB, 
    3. Name, 
    4. the bank account nominated to receive your tax return, 
    5. details of employments, 
    6. superfund name, etc.  
    7. document ID
  2. Once established, client informs ATO they need help in tax agent nomination. 
    1. You the director of Your Company Name wish to authorize us Teresa Tran & Associates (Tax Agent Number 2525 5906) as the tax agent.
