Who needs director ID

information keeps changing.

Before we were told that anyone who is and WAS a director in their life time needs to apply (order ref 101 1066, call ref# 105 205 913 663 9)


But then the day after they release a draft rule (not yet law) allowing former and resigned directors to be exempt from applying for director ID


We say its best to get it done




If you live in Australia...

Call to apply (long phone queue)

Call 1300 287 539 and select option 2.

Have ALL your Australian ID documents ready to read out to them:

  • tax file number (TFN) 
  • passport (not more than three years expired), 
  • birth certificate, 
  • citizenship certificate, 
  • or Medicare card. 
  • bank account details
  • notice of assessment
  • super account details
  • dividend statement
  • Centrelink payment summary
  • PAYG payment summary.


Do it yourself online (fastest way)


Step 1: Set up myGovID smartphone App 

  • Download mygovID app (not myGov) from Apple Store or Google Play to your Smart phone - note 
    • you will need the latest software updates,
    • older iphones like IOS 8 won't work.
  • Open mygovID app and follow the prompts. You need to enter your 
    • email address, 
    • full name, 
    • and date of birth.  
  • Verify at least two of the following 
    • driver’s licence, 
    • passport (not more than three years expired), 
    • birth certificate, 
    • citizenship certificate, 
    • or Medicare card. 



Step 2: Apply for your director ID, click here: 


Step 3: Notify us (your accountants) of your director ID 

Once completed, please send us your Director ID, we will update it to ASIC on your behalf
